Electronic gambling machines (EGM’s), referred to as Slot machines, have a set pattern or sequence of spins that can be determined through careful study.

All wins and losses on electronic gambling machines (EGM’s), referred to as Slot machines, are produced by a random number generator (RNG).  The RNG continuously cycles through millions of number combinations at a rate of 2000–5000 per second.  Each RNG number is programmed to a specific symbol/reel combination.  The very millisecond the spin button is pushed, a random number is generated which locks the symbol combination that is displayed on the screen.  Number/symbol combinations are randomly generated.  There are no patterns that a person can track.

Someone just sat down where I left and hit a big jackpot.  If I would have just stayed a bit longer, it would have been mine.

It is possible, but you would have had to activate the spin button at the exact same millisecond that the other player did.  Any change in timing yields a different result.

I have been playing this machine for a long time and haven’t hit the jackpot or bonus.  It must be ready to hit any time now.

The odds of hitting the jackpot or bonus are the same on the first spin, as on any other spin that is completed.  Electronic Gambling Machines (EGM’s), referred to as Slot machines, are never due.  Jackpots occur at random moments and are more the result of chance, rather than the machine being due to hit.

That Electronic Gambling Machine (EGM), referred to as a Slot machine, just paid out a big jackpot.  It will not be paying out for a long time.

An Electronic Gambling Machine’s (EGM’s), also known as a Slot machine, wins and losses are produced by the Random Number Generator (RNG) and are programmed to average a certain payout percentage over millions of spins.  The RNG is not affected by jackpots, and a machine that just paid out a jackpot has the exact same odds before and after the jackpot.

I’ve heard Electronic Gambling Machines (EGM’s), referred to as Slot machines, pay more often if I only bet one credit per line.

The Random Number Generator (RNG) has no idea how many credits a patron is betting during a spin.  It will produce the same symbol combination whether you play one or max credits.  It is more important that you play and bet at a level which you can afford.

Casinos can loosen or tighten the slot machines with the flip of a switch.

Electronic Gaming Machines (EGM’s), or Slot machines, have a computer chip inside the microprocessor unit that determines the payout percentage.  These are preset at the factory.  For a casino to change the payout on an EGM / Slot machine, the chip would have to be changed.  In Saskatchewan, the gaming regulations prevent gaming chips from being changed unless a request has been submitted to the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA).

A machine that has not been paying is due for a hit.

There is no way to determine if an Electronic Gambling Machine (EGM)/Slot machine is due for a hit.  Each spin is a random occurrence and is not affected by what has happened on previous spins.

If you use your SIGA Rewards card the machine will pay back less.

There is no link between the card reader and the RNG.  By not using your SIGA Rewards card, you are denying yourself valuable rewards and cash back from the Casino.

If I had pulled the handle instead of pushing the spin button, I would have hit something big.

Whether you press the spin button or pull the handle there is no difference.  Either method will produce a win or loss, which had been generated by the Random Number Generator (RNG) the moment the handle was pulled or spin button was pushed.  The handle is basically a connection to the switch which operates the spin button.

My favourite Electronic Gambling Machine (EGM)/Slot machine pays out more.

A patron may have a favourite machine because it has given the patron some good payouts in its time, but that’s more the result of chance.  The EGM/Slot machine is programmed to produce wins, losses, and payout a certain percentage.  The EGM/Slot machine may have given out some good prizes to a patron, but in the long run the slot machine will operate in the manner it was programmed.  Having a favourite machine is great, but make sure you have a favourite machine because it suits your style of play and provides entertainment, NOT because you think it pays out more.
